Description
A substantial 60ft narrowboat offering four berths, a fixed double bedroom, generous living accommodation and plenty of potential for someone looking for a rewarding refurbishment project.
Built by R&D Fabrications, Heatherbell is a traditional stern narrowboat with a practical layout and a surprising amount of accommodation. At 60ft, she offers a spacious saloon, well-equipped galley, bathroom with shower and a separate fixed double bedroom, making her an interesting proposition for somebody prepared to take on the work required.
Entering from the bow, the saloon is a good-sized living space with plenty of windows providing natural light. A solid-fuel stove with back boiler provides a focal point to the room, while the existing sofa can provide an additional double berth when required.
Moving through the boat is the galley, arranged across both sides with a good amount of worktop and cupboard space. Equipment includes a gas cooker with oven, grill and four-burner hob, 12v Shoreline fridge and stainless-steel sink and drainer.
Beyond the galley is the bathroom, fitted with a shower, wash basin and toilet, before continuing through to the aft bedroom. The bedroom is particularly generous for a narrowboat and features a fixed double bed, storage and windows on either side.
At the stern is the traditional engine room arrangement, housing a Kubota four-cylinder diesel engine coupled to an HBW 100-2R gearbox.
Heatherbell is equipped with 12v electrics and 240v landline, three leisure batteries and two starter batteries. Hot water is supplied via a calorifier heated by the engine and back boiler, while the solid-fuel stove provides heating.
Heatherbell is being offered at £19,950 to reflect the work required and should be viewed as a refurbishment project rather than a ready-to-go boat.
A survey was carried out in August 2026 Which highlights works required to the hull, gas-locker vent, weed hatch and corrosion within the engine bilge. Internally, Heatherbell requires refurbishment including attention to the windows/portholes and exterior paintwork.
She was last blacked in approximately 2022, and has a BSC until March 2028.
The full survey is available to prospective purchasers and we strongly recommend reading it alongside watching our walk-through video before arranging a viewing. For somebody with the skills, budget and enthusiasm to take on a project, Heatherbell represents a lot of boat for £19,950. With 60ft of accommodation, a fixed bed and practical layout, there is plenty here to work with.
