Description
Darwell is a charming 52ft traditional narrowboat built by the reputable Peter Nicholls, with a fit-out by Ivy Bridge Marine. Designed for both functionality and comfort. Recently blacked in May 2025 and with a valid BSC through to September 2025, she’s well-prepared for her next chapter.
Her layout is thoughtfully arranged to make the most of the space onboard. A generous bow area offers flexible seating or room to relax, while the galley features a Spinflo cooker, 12v Shoreline fridge, and melamine worktops—practical touches that support life afloat without compromise.
Sleeping arrangements are smart and adaptable: a fixed cross bed provides a comfortable night’s rest, and the bow bench seating easily converts to a double berth, making her ideal for couples or small families.
The heart of Darwell’s heating system is a reliable Webasto unit supported by a Morso Squirrel stove—perfect for staying warm year-round. Hot water is supplied via calorifier, immersion, or Webasto, ensuring hot showers no matter your cruising schedule. A clean, well-thought-out wet room includes a cassette toilet, shower, and vanity basin, with a second basin conveniently located in the master bedroom.
She’s powered by a BMC 1.5 engine with a Hurth gearbox and features solid onboard electrics including 12v, 240v shoreline connection, and a starter with 3 leisure batteries. Two solar panels totalling 350w with a Victron MPPT controller provide ample renewable energy, giving you the confidence to roam further off-grid.
Darwell’s charm lies in her honest build, warm interior, and practical features. Whether you’re seeking a capable cruiser or a simple escape from the shore, she’s an affordable and dependable choice—ready to cast off and carry you into a quieter way of life.
