Description
Roobarb is a beautifully unique 42ft by 12ft Broads River Cruiser that blends classic lines with modern comfort. Originally built in 1973 by Wilds of Horning as the Bahama model, this vessel has been thoughtfully refitted by Wharf House Narrowboats Ltd of Braunston. The result is a sleek, stylish home afloat.
Constructed with a GRP hull, Roobarb offers generous light with an open feel throughout. Inside, you’ll find modern touches like Karndean flooring, foil-backed quilted insulation, and beech butcher’s block worktops in the galley. Sliding and top-opening windows, along with a large retractable sunroof, provide ample natural light and ventilation. The bow covers can also be split for wind protection, offering adaptable outdoor comfort.
The heart of the boat is a BMC 2.5 four-cylinder diesel engine, paired with a hydraulic Volvo drive system for smooth and responsive handling. The fuel tank holds approximately 150 litres, and the engine was recently serviced in January 2024.
Onboard systems are thoughtfully designed. Hot water is supplied by a calorifier, immersion heater and a Webasto unit, while warmth is provided by a Webasto Thermo Top central heating system and a Refleks diesel stove. Two 150-litre stainless steel water tanks support comfortable long-term living.
Electrically, Roobarb is well-equipped. The setup includes 12v and 240v systems, a 3kw pure sine wave inverter, Victron Centaur 30a charger, galvanic isolator, and two 300w solar panels to support off-grid life. Battery capacity includes one starter and four lead-carbon leisure batteries, offering long-lasting power.
Accommodation is designed with comfort and practicality in mind. There are four berths: a fixed queen-size bed and a pull-out double in the saloon. The walkthrough bathroom features a Jabsco deluxe pump-out toilet, shower, and vanity basin. The galley includes a Stoves oven, Fisher Paykel three-ring hob featuring a 5kw burner, 240v fridge/freezer, and even a Candy washing machine — all the comforts of home, afloat.
With a valid Boat Safety Certificate until March 2027 and a GRP visual inspection in March 2024, Roobarb is ready for her next chapter. She represents a rare opportunity to own a stylishly finished river cruiser with a strong heritage and a contemporary edge.
